Information Space
The information space is organised to inform Defence Medical Command (DMedC) / Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) NHS App guidance. Evidence belongs here when it helps decide what guidance can safely say, what must remain conditional, or which implementation facts are still missing.
The DMedC NHS App knowledge space currently spans these confirmed domains:
- NHS App and NHS account: public service scope, own-access eligibility, child age bands, dependant analysis, linked profiles, family/proxy access, roadmap, features, integration route, and messaging.
- GP-linked patient services: GP record access, repeat prescriptions, appointments, referrals, waiting lists, clinical correspondence, test results, and permissions, with GP Connect Patient Facing APIs as a major evidence cluster.
- NHS national architecture: Personal Demographics Service (PDS), Organisation Data Service (ODS), Spine, Spine Directory Service (SDS), Spine Secure Proxy (SSP), NHS API Platform, GP Connect professional APIs, Interface Mechanism 1 (IM1), Message Exchange for Social Care and Health (MESH), partner onboarding, Electronic Prescription Service (EPS), Patient Care Aggregator / Wayfinder, Patient Engagement Portals (PEPs), NHS Notify, and Single Patient Record direction.
- MOD healthcare context: Defence Medical Command, Defence Medical Services (DMS), Defence Primary Healthcare, Defence Global Practice, DPHC Firmbase, DPHC Overseas [DPHC(O)], armed-forces medical care, dependants, and minors.
- NHS App delivery horizons: UK-wide mobile access through NHS England and core national services; relevant appointment information from participating NHS providers in England; a bounded DPHC Firmbase reminder workstream introduced alongside current SMS; and later DPHC clinical integration. The Phase 0-6 model remains the detailed technical reference for primary healthcare (PHC) appointment visibility and management, correspondence, results, and CORTISONE patient data.
- MOD digital transformation: Programme Cortisone, HealthShare Unified Care Record (UCR), Health Connect / Integration Platform evidence, Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI), and the need to map new MOD digital records to NHS service integration.
- Evidence gaps: DPHC eligibility, DPHC ODS/practice model, GP-system supplier status, Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP) Primary healthcare (PHC) appointment visibility feed, DMICP PHC appointment management write-back route, lower interface / assurance route, minor access, dependant split-registration behaviour, proxy / linked-profile setup, DPHC(O) access, CORTISONE interface scope, and exact NHS App feature behaviour.
Confidence
NHS England Digital and NHS public pages are high-confidence for public service definitions and roadmap status at the time accessed. MOD/GOV.UK pages are high-confidence for DMedC, Defence Medical Services (DMS), and armed-forces healthcare context. The current mobile NHS App exclusion for people registered at a DMS surgery is directly evidenced. DPHC cohort eligibility, implementation routes, and feature outcomes remain boundary claims unless direct operational evidence is added.
